Women’s cricket is growing rapidly! It proves our sport is not only for men, as women are now showcasing their talent and determination to excel. This month, we celebrate the inspirational women in cricket and highlight the important roles they fulfil in our sport.
The development of young talent in the sport is greatly aided by coaching and female coaches are especially important in this regard. Their varied viewpoints can provide as an inspiration for the upcoming crop of female cricket players and demonstrate that aspirant coaches can also have an impact.
Another important area where women are becoming more involved is officiating the game. There has been an increase in the number of female that are entering the traditionally male-dominated field to uphold the integrity of the game and guarantee fairness. We hope that by showcasing their accomplishment, we will inspire others to think of umpiring as a feasible career.
The development of the sport is aided by the participation of women, whether as coaches, players, umpires, or scorers. Having more women in leadership positions promotes equity within our sport and introduces new ideas to clubs and committees.
Over the next 4 Fridays, we will be bringing you a set of videos highlighting the accomplishments of women in cricket within Dorset. We hope these stories will inspire others to follow their own cricketing aspirations and reach the levels achieved by our storytellers, helping to create a diverse and inclusive cricketing community.
The videos will be hosted on our YouTube channel and can be accessed through the link below.
The weekly videos will be announced on our Social media platforms - Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn.
